The NSS Vehicle 5G Gateway connects every vehicle in the fleet to the 5G cellular network and distributes the onboard network over Ethernet and Wi-Fi to all onboard equipment — while acquiring data from the CAN bus and providing continuous GNSS positioning to the other systems.

The Vehicle 5G Gateway is each vehicle's connectivity and data entry point: it connects the bus (or other heavy vehicle) to the 5G cellular network, distributes the onboard network over Ethernet and Wi-Fi to the remaining onboard systems, acquires and decodes data from the vehicle's CAN/J1939 bus, and provides continuous GNSS positioning to the onboard systems — all managed remotely through a configuration interface in Portuguese.
The product combines an industrial 5G/Wi-Fi 6/Ethernet communications hardware platform, with a native CAN port, with a software layer of NSS's own. It is supplied and managed as a single NSS product: the base hardware comes from a third-party manufacturer, and the NSS layer (the NSS configuration interface, the CAN gateway and the GNSS positioning service) is clearly the part developed by NSS.

Dual 5G modem with SA/NSA support and LTE FDD/TDD and WCDMA backward compatibility, dual-SIM (2× Nano-SIM) with e-SIM support for automatic switching between operators. Maximum NR SA throughput of 2.47 Gbps downlink and 900 Mbps uplink.

GNSS positioning
Standalone multi-constellation GNSS positioning (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS), with standalone horizontal accuracy better than 1.5 m CEP and velocity accuracy better than 0.1 m/s, NMEA 0183 protocol and a time-to-first-fix under 32 s cold, 25 s warm and 2 s on reacquisition.
Industrial environment
Operation between -40°C and +75°C, with native VPN support (OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard) and a NAT firewall with stateful packet inspection (SPI) for a secure link to the fleet management centre.

NSS configuration interface
A Portuguese-language web management interface, with NSS's own theme and navigation, for local configuration of the gateway — network, CAN and cellular link status on a single screen.
NCG — NSS CAN Gateway
Reads vehicle data in real time — speed, consumption, doors, among others — and makes it available to the remaining onboard systems.
GNSS positioning service
An NSS service that obtains the position from the gateway's GNSS receiver and makes the vehicle position available, in real time, to the remaining onboard systems.
